Project Description

The project consists of a one-story, L shaped conservatory added on to an existing house in the Georgetown Historic District of Washington, DC.

The addition’s arched openings, window proportions and decorative trim are derived from the front façade of the Italianate style, mid-nineteenth century house.

The conservatory’s walls are composed of custom wood doors, and the roof is a system of aluminum skylights trimmed out with wood to harmonize with the existing doors and decorative trim. The resulting impression is of light and openness, providing a graceful transition from the existing kitchen and dining room to the garden.
