This project is a new home in Nantucket. The additive form house is made up of three sections of gabled roof that are offset diagonally across the site to maximize daylight and ventilation. The first section contains the entry, powder room, guest room with bath and small stair to a library above. The second section, the heart of the home, contains a one and a half story living room with exposed trusses as well as a fireplace. A back hall leads to the kitchen and dining room, and to the stair to the master bedroom. The third section contains the kitchen, dining area and breakfast nook, as well as a rear entry and laundry room with the master bedroom and bath above. Each section of the house- on each floor- has an outdoor space directly adjacent. The project also includes a new single car garage. An existing single story building was cut down to half its size, and moved to a corner of the small site for use as a guesthouse containing two independent bedroom suites.
